Michael Roy

Principal, Wealth Strategist

Michael Roy is a key part of Main Street Research’s West Coast presence, serving as a resource for families and investors interested in learning more about the firm. He also works closely with Financial Consultants at Charles Schwab, helping them better understand Main Street Research’s investment approach, capabilities, and the clients the firm serves.

Throughout his career, Michael has worked extensively with high-net-worth individuals and families, helping them align their investment portfolios with their long-term financial goals. His experience spans investment management, retirement planning, wealth preservation, and client relationship management, with an emphasis on clear communication and practical guidance.

Michael has a natural ability to make complex financial topics approachable and understandable. He believes the best relationships begin with listening—taking the time to understand what matters most to each client before providing thoughtful guidance tailored to their goals.

Before joining Main Street Research, Michael spent 20 years at Fisher Investments, where he held roles across client service, investment research, and leadership, ultimately serving as Regional President of the firm’s South Florida client group. He later brought his industry experience into the classroom, teaching at universities in the San Diego area.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from Florida State University and completed the Certified Financial Planner™ certification education curriculum at Northwestern University in Chicago. While attending college, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve, serving for four years.

Outside of work, Michael is a lifelong sailor and can usually be found on or near the water. He also enjoys volunteering and mentoring others.
